There are quite a few people who will tout the benefits of mobile eCommerce. Yes, there are a number of benefits to having commerce provided to people on their phones. However, there are problems that come with this too. We now take a look at some of the issues that people have taken note of.
1. Not Everyone Has Mobile
It may be hard to believe these days, but not everyone has a phone capable of getting on the Internet. A mobile commerce platform requires that the users are able to get on the Internet from their phones in the first place. However, that is not something that everyone has access to. Not being able to reach everyone who is out there is a drawback to focusing too heavily on the mobile platform.
2. Small Screens
Many have complained that purchases are tough to make on their phone because the screen is so small. They may want to make a purchase on the go, but it is difficult for them because they are literally not able to see what all is happening on the screen before them. This is a complaint that can be addressed by pinching the screen to make the images larger, but even this is not as simple for most people as just using their desktop computer.
3. An Inability To Make A Purchase
This problem lies squarely on the shoulders of the store owner. You have to make it possible to make a purchase in the first place by having the right shopping cart software on the site to allow customers to make their purchases. That is not something that all of them are able to do if you have not gotten the software installed on the site in the first place. It is something that has to be done ahead of time and it is important to make sure that all is working just fine.
4. Design Problems
There could always be design problem with the mobile site that has been created. If it has not been optimized for the use on mobile phones, the site could suffer some serious problems that can happen when the design for the site is not done just right. If the mobile user has a problem navigating around the site, then they could decide not to bother with using the site in the first place. They can always find another one that will work better for them.
5. Making To Many Changes
Those who do have a mobile site that is working for them should avoid changing things around too much. Doing so could quite literally ruin a good thing that they had going. It is a good idea to find something that works and just stick with it. Avoiding doing anything that causes problems to the infrastructure that is already in existence is important. No one wants to take steps backwards when they have already worked so hard to make progress in the right direction.
